About Andrea

Andrea is an anti-diet coach that helps women build unshakeable self worth by improving their relationships with food, movement, and their bodies.

Work of A.R.T. was created by Andrea Ruth Troughton in 2015 with the mission to help women feel better. Much has changed over the years, but that mission remains stronger than ever.

Andrea struggled with her body image and self worth for most of her life. After working in the bar and restaurant industry for many years, navigating grief and trauma with little awareness

and even fewer tools, she developed a number of poor coping strategies that negatively impacted her physical and mental well being. After hiring a personal trainer and making some positive changes to her lifestyle, she began to notice huge improvements in the way she felt and was inspired to change careers and help other women like herself!

Andrea received diplomas with honours in Personal Fitness Training and Holistic Nutrition and is a CSEP Certified Personal Trainer, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, and a CSNN Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant. She has gone on to receive training in somatics, trauma informed wellness, and disordered eating awareness and risk mitigation. 

After 10 years working with clients in the fitness and wellness industry, and almost as many years of personal and professional development, Andrea realized that an enormous gap exists between the tools of exercise and nutrition, and lifelong healthy habits and body satisfaction, due in part to the complex relationships we have with food, movement, and our bodies. These relationships are made even more challenginging to manuever when compounded by physical, mental, emotional, and social barriers to access. 

Work of A.R.T. Coaching strives to reduce barriers to access by sharing and advocating for accessible, sustainable wellness practices, offering sliding scale pricing, and free community events.
